Take the pressure off yourself by having students evaluate their own learning this fall and set goals for spring. First, reflect on course objectives (I can statements) and activities accomplished since the beginning of the year. Then go over the forms to explain your expectations. Students then evaluate their academic work, study habits, and behavior.
These forms work for both parent-teacher and student-led conferences. The packet includes individual forms for Reading, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Work Habits/Study Skills. Statements are written in the vernacular to help students reflect personally and objectively. Their responses will lead discussions during conferences and help to determine future goals.
At the end of the form, students share pride in their greatest achievements, state their goals, and designate how they will accomplish those goals.

This product offers an excellent way to give your students practice in alphabetizing. There are two sets of cards with 20 words each. You place the cards around the room and your students circulate and search and then write and practice alphabetizing the words. The cards would also work as a literary center. I've included two other activity sheets that can be used for early finishers or to extend the lesson.

Alphabetical Order-Up to the Third Letter-Grades 2-3-Write the Room - 29 pages
This is a short poem about Thanksgiving. The little poem talks about being grateful and being giving, and then is followed by a few questions that dig a little more deeply into this. The students are to also draw a simple picture. The challenge is a deliberate step in the direction of being more grateful and more giving either individually or as a class, as a family, or as a school. This kind of reflection and action is always in season!
We created a big, creative bulletin board that displayed the students' drawings of themselves as well as their ideas for sharing with others. We added pictures of them enacting their "Challenge Ideas," in addition to pictures and information about the recipient organizations and individuals. We loved to look at this board and remember how it warmed our hearts to share with others.
One Arts Infusion Collaborative seeks to create original poetry and music that support and enhance curricular content, celebrate holidays, stir imaginations, and help make meaningful connections to learning.
