No need for your students to fear these loveable MONSTERS! This packet has activities to help students with reading and writing.
There is a MONSTER book that has two levels for young readers. Level 1 has a fill-in-the-blank format. Level 2 has students using the picture to jumpstart their descriptive writing. Both books provide practice with reading and writing positional words:
in, on, behind, in front of, next to, under
Students practice ordinal words at 3 levels from one word answers to writing complete sentences.
Roll-A-Monster provides a fun way for students to work on number recogntion as well as plan out drawing their own monsters.
The Writing section has been differeniated such that students can write with prompts, or choose all their own words to describe the Monster on the page. Scaffolded text includes phrases: The monster is ______. The monster has ______. (students fill in the blanks based on the image on their page) There are also writing pages that are blank where students draw, then describe their own Monster. There are enough writing sheets to last weeks in your classroom
High resolution colors allow for great printing in color or Black & White
There are color posters of each Monster that can be used with the Writing Section (in case you choose to make student sheets in Black & White)
Posters provide great practice for students to use descriptive vocabulary to play "I Spy"/ "Guess Who" type games
