**Updated 15/08/12 to include chevron backgrounds for the headers in both fonts, more cards to take the total to almost 110 and an editable PowePoint so that you can add your own cards!

This bulletin board set is a wonderful way to display writing skills that you have taught to your class. It now comes in two versions - the font shown (CK Handprint) and Comic Sans. Each file is 90 pages.

The VOICES headings are: Voice, Organization, Ideas, Conventions, Excellent Word Choice and Sentence Fluency.

The 6 headers come in three designs (one with and one without the kid graphics, and one with a larger first letter so the V in VOICES stands out for example) and nearly 110 strategy cards! Place the  cards under the headers as you introduce a new skill to your class. You'll then be able to refer to them during whole class lessons and writing conferences. I plan on setting student goals under one of the VOICES headings, just like I do with the reading CAFE menu.

Just like the CAFE menu, the strategy cards don't contain all of the information you need to teach the strategy. For example, a card under Organization says 'Hook the reader with a bold beginning'. I'd have a separate chart that would detail the different ways that authors create bold beginnings  or leads (e.g. begin with a question, begin with dialogue etc).

The cards also serve as good prompts for mini-lesson ideas. I printed all the cards at the start of the year and when I was planning, I referred to them to get ideas. The board also serves as a reminder for Traits that need more focus (because they have less cards under them).
