One of my favorite balanced literacy centers is our word work center - and it just got BETTER! Are you a believer in students being able to manipulate (which kinders think feels like play) to learn literacy? With this extension pack that builds on the skills developed in the original Playdough Word Work Pack, your students can get the hands-on literacy learning that playdough provides!

*Note: This product is intended for purchase in addition to the original pack. If purchased without, some items may not be as clear, nor complete. It is designed to extend the activities and skills previously covered.


Includes:

  • addition to literacy center poster to include new activities, and bin/materials picture icon labels
  • 88 sight word workmats (that students use to stamp the sight word and then roll out the letters in playdough to form the word) In addition to the original pack, you'll now have number words 1-10, the first 100 Fry high-frequency words and Pre-Primer Dolch words.
  • 11 word building workmats focusing on changing sounds and identifying the new word made
  • 58 CVC word building workmats focusin on changing medial and ending sounds (includes real/nonsense words)
  • 9 ABC order workmats (where students stamp the missing letter from the alphabet)
  • 3 letter sorting workmats - students sort based on category

 


 

Helps Meet Common Core English/Language Arts Standards:

  • K.RF.2.e-1. Blend at least three phonemes together to state one-syllable words.
  • K.RF.2.e-2. Segment one-syllable (3 phonemes) words into phonemes.
  • K.RF.2.e-3. Substitute individual sounds of simple one-syllable words to make newwords.
  • K.RF.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decodingwords.
  • K.RF.3.a-2. Produce all of the primary or most frequent sounds for eachconsonant.
  • K.RF.3.b-1. Recognize short vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u) within common spellings.
  • K.RF.3.b-2. Recognize long vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u) within common spellings.
  • K.RF.3.c. Read common high-frequency words by sight
