Color by Sight Word Sentences! 

(Primer Edition)

I am thrilled to have released this Color by Sight Word product, because kids just love to color.  My goal was to provide a fun way to reinforce, review and teach sight words to kids.

This product has been designed to work with all 52 of the following sight words from the Dolch Primer list:

all, am, are, at, ate, be, black, brown, but, came, did, do, eat, four, get, good, have, he, into, like, must, new, no, now, on, our, out, please, pretty, ran, ride, saw, say, she, so, soon,that, there, they, this, too, under, want, was, well, went,what, white, who, will, with and yes.

The set of words in each coloring sheet will be used in sentences that children can read.  All of the words in the sentences are from the above sight word list, unless they are underlined.  The underlined words will be either easily decodable with phonics, decodable through picture clues or previous sight words.   Kids will feel successful and confident in their sight words when using this product!

This product meets the following Common Core Standards:

Print Concepts

  • RF.K. 1Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
    • Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page.
    • Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters.
    • Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.

Phonological Awareness

  • RF.K.2  Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes)..
    • Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)

Phonics and Word Recognition

  • RF.K.3  Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
    • Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant.
    • Read common high-frequency words by sight (e.g., theoftoyoushemyisaredo,does).
