As students explore Patricia Polacco books, they will be learning skills such as character traits, theme, setting, sequencing and summarizing, story plot, and more! The unit is interactive and invites cooperative learning and critical thinking.

The unit also includes a 33 piece, full-color Bulletin Board Set to use throughout your unit! Add book cover pictures up after reading it with the class, display theme cards to remind students of what they are learning, and get students excited with Fun Facts About Patricia Polacco. To help teach each lesson there is a SMARTBoard presentation with a total of 14 slides that go hand-in-hand with the student handouts. If you do not have a SMARTBoard, you can simply create these charts with PowerPoint or on large chart paper as they are simple and easy to create.

There are a total of 13 Lessons plus a response to literature writing piece. The writing piece requires students to apply everything they have learned throughout the unit and bring it together in a guided format.
