This set of cut-and-glue sentences includes over 120 Dolch sight words! They are arranged into 45 sentences with 6 or 7 words each. Each sentence has a fun pirate theme! The sentences are great for teaching not only sight words, but also grammar and punctuation! 
In my classroom, we use these as a whole group activity. First, I cut each page of sentences into strips. I give each student one sentence to cut out and one page of construction paper for all 3 sentences. After the student finishes with the first sentence, he/she comes to my desk, reads the sentence, and gets the next sentence to cut out. 
These work well as a whole group activity, for small groups, as center activities, and for early finishers. 

NOTE:  While some clipart by Whimsy Clips has only bones, no skulls or swords are included in this product.  


This product addresses the following Common Core Standards* for Second & Third Grade Language Arts: 

RF.2.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Identify words with inconsistent but common spelling-sound correspondences. Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.
RF.2.4. Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
SL.2.6. Produce complete sentences when appropriate to task and situation in order to provide requested detail or clarification.
L.2.1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Use adjectives and adverbs, and choose between them depending on what is to be modified. Produce, expand, and rearrange complete simple and compound sentences (e.g., The boy watched the movie; The little boy watched the movie; The action movie was watched by the little boy).
L.2.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
RF.3.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.
RF.3.4. Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
L.3.1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Produce simple, complex, and compound sentences.
L.3.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
