This set of word family cards has 6 word families with 5 cards in each. The following word families (different ones from the fall set) are represented: -ap, -at, -ed, -in, -og and -um. Two words in each set have blends or digraphs. It also comes with a blank set of cards so you can add your own.

I created this set to use in my classroom. I usually have a set of cards with magnets attached. I put them on my filing cabinet and mix them up every morning. During center time, someone just can't resist sorting them back! 

You can also use these during guided reading time when presenting a new word family. Additionally, they can be cut apart, separating the onset and rime to make word puzzles. 

This product addresses the following Common Core Standards for Kindergarten:

F.K.1. Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. 
Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters.

RF.K.2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
Recognize and produce rhyming words.
Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
RF.K.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
Distinguish between similarly spelled words by identifying the sounds of the letters that differ.

This product addresses the following Common Core Standards for First Grade:

RF.1.2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
Orally produce single-syllable words by blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends.

RF.1.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
Know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs (two letters that represent one sound).
