This is a three-page activity about Braille writing. The first two pages provide students the basic structure of Braille writing. The last page has the students write a sentence in Braille using push pins. Students can exchange their Braille cards and see if they can read what the other wrote.
This is a proven activity. Every year I teach the students about diversity and one of the topics is handicapped people. I have my students create messages with push pins and then I invite a blind person into the classroom to share some information about being blind. She then reads the Braille cards that the students created. The students are amazed.
