Why do we celebrate Veterans Day? Kids often ask this question! Use this SmartBoard lesson to help your students understand the reasoning behind Veterans Day and what they can do to honor Veterans. The lesson ends with a letter format to help kids write a letter to honor a Veteran.
I made a move to 5th grade math & science this year after 2nd grade for 2 years. I teach in central Ohio and love every minute of it. I spent 2 and a half years subbing while earning my masters degree and quickly learned that the Smart Board is one of the greatest inventions EVER. I use mine all day for every subject! I've found that it is a great way to engage students in learning.
My old district used the Everyday Math curriculum and I've worked on creating interactive Smart Board lessons to accompany different units for 2nd grade. You will find many of those lessons in my store. I've also created review lessons for many of the units. As I dig more into math for 5th grade, you'll find SmartBoard lessons, homework assignments, assessments, worksheets, games, and more. These will all be aligned to the Common Core standards.
I'm working on developing SmartBoard lessons & activities, worksheets, projects, and more to accompany the Ohio Department of Education Standards for Science. Please keep an eye out for these materials in the near future!
My students will take the Ohio Acheivement Assessment (OAA) in the spring. I'm developing materials to help them learn not just the subject knowledge they'll need but also test vocabulary, directions, and strategies.
My kids love to review ideas through games and you can purchase some of these in my store. I highly recommend the USA Jeopardy game...it's my students' favorite!
I used to use Daily 5 for my literacy block when I was still teaching language arts. Many of my "mini-lessons" are available for use on the Smart Board. I am also a big fan of using menus and tic-tac-toe choice boards to differentiate instruction. These are also available.
