New Year's Mini Unit

 

  1. My New Year’s Resolutions- students brainstorm resolution ideas and write them in the balloons. (p. 3)
  2. My New Year’s Book- Fill-in-the-blank book about New Year’s that students can illustrate. (p. 4-9)
  3. New Year’s Memory- Turn all cards face down. First player turns over two cards. If they match, the player keeps the cards. If they do not, turn the cards back over. Repeat with remaining players until all cards are gone. 
  4. My School Resolutions - students will choose a goal to work on at school and write about how they will reach that goal.
  5. Then and Now - students will write (and draw) about a favorite memory from last year and one thing they hope to do this year.
  6. New Year’s Word Problems - students solve math word problems relating to New Year’s. 
  7. Fireworks - students draw themselves watching fireworks and write about why they like fireworks.
