Fiction Pack

This fourteen-page fiction pack contains graphic organizers and formats for the following adventures in fiction:

*Main Character Traits Map

-Identify the traits, actions, feelings, and motivations of the main character and support them with evidence from the text

*Main Character Circle Map

-Use text evidence to think about what the main character wants, feels, wishes, and doesn't like.

*Character Relationships Map

- Identify other characters the main character interacts with and describe their relationship, using text evidence.

*Character Change Map

-Describe the character at the beginning, identify a major event that causes the character to change, and describe the character at the end.

*Character “I Am” Poem Format

-Write an "I Am" poem from the main character's perspective

*Characteristics of Setting Map

-Identify the setting using evidence about four characteristics: place, time, tone, and culture

*Theme with Text Evidence Map

-Use evidence from the text to identify the theme

*Story Organizer: Story Elements

-Identify the story elements of your fiction story (main character, supporting characters, setting, problem, resolution, theme)

*Fiction Story Map (Freytag’s Pyramid)

-Record important events and details from the story and identify what role they play in telling a story

-Simple organizer to record three main events

*Sequencing Sketches Map

-Sketch and write about six main events in the story

*Sequence of Story Elements

-Slightly more challenging recording sheet to identify the story elements and record them in sequence (Main Character, Supporting Characters, Setting, Problem & Solution)

*Questioning Fiction

-Four questions with space to respond to get kids thinking about fiction in different ways.
