There are 2 text versions of this Hans Christian Andersen classic story.
I use this as an interactive read aloud using the modeled think alouds and turn and talks. Students can continue the discussions about the text using the discussion prompts. Students can also apply what they've learned from the text and the discussions when they complete the graphic organizers and writing extension activities.
In this pack, you receive:
**Two versions of the text The Little Match Girl (version 1 is more difficult than version 2)
**Lists of vocabulary words and definitions for both versions 2 different vocabulary organizers for each version
**Think Aloud models and Turn-and-Talk questions and prompts for you to use during your read aloud for each version of the text. (Read Aloud focus skills are: envisioning, inferring, and drawing conclusions.)
**Visualizing Graphic Organizer for each text version. (Sections of the text are typed in and the first one can be used for your model.)
**Graphic Organizers focusing on CHARACTER—specifically: character actions and feelings and evolution over time
**Writing Extensions (ranging from simple to more difficult) that focus on: character change over time; significance of events; and central themes (can be used for test prep)
**Discussion Prompt Cards
