The classroom calendar provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce patterning skills on a daily basis. To use the calendar in this way, you need to create a set of calendar pictures that can be used to create a specific pattern. In August you may want to use boys and girls. Your pattern might be boy, girl, boy, girl(ABAB), etc. Every day, during your morning routine, have the children predict which picture they think is going to be next. As the year goes on, make the pattern more difficult. You may want to let children create patterns as they become more sophisticated in their patterning skills.
This packet includes:
*Months of the year
*Days of the week
*Numbers 0-9 for the year (2011)
*3 pages of calendar pieces for each number 1-31 (18 different kids that you use to make your patterns)
*Sample pattern combinations (AB, ABB, ABC, etc)
