After introducing the concept, traditional studies of $1 WORDS proceed by asking students to find more $1 WORDS. Little in life could be more frustrating! Without some direction, that task is simply overwhelming. Thus, I have created clues for finding $1 WORDS. Copy these 15 clues on green paper, cut apart, and distribute to your students. It's fun. It combines myriad skills. It's ready to copy and go! An answer key is included.
As an enrichment specialist, I challenged all the classes at one grade level to a $1 WORD contest for 1 month. It was such fun to watch my students clamor for more clues in every spare moment.

You have reached the one stop shop! My teaching experience spans more than 3 decades and reflects my years in every grade from K to 5, Gifted & Talented to Reading Recovery, enrichment to Title I.
