This is a bundle of THREE levels of reading response/reading leads that I use for reading homework and reading workshop.

Level One: I use this form with my third graders for reading homework. They are required to read a chapter book of their choice for 20 minutes two nights a week and then write a response paragraph. This download includes reading response leads, a student checklist, two sample reading logs, and a teacher rubric. I use three versions of this form during the year, all of which are available in my shop.

Level Three:  A step up from reading leads, these responses require students to formulate paragraph responses without the scaffold of a fill-in-the-blank starter. Skills covered: connections, characters, setting, plot, theme, language, illustrations, genre. This download includes reading response questions, a student checklist, sample reading log, and a teacher rubric. I use three versions of this form during the year, all of which are available in my shop.
