It's important that students know where a fraction lives on the number line. Crusin' the Number Line will help ground students in that concept and is aligned to Common Core. Included in this file are two version of the number line. These number lines are meant to be made into a large classroom number line, taught whole group, then practiced on a smaller scale in small groups. Version 1 is for the beginning of fraction instruction. Students will determine where a fraction (on a car) belongs on the number line: at 0, between 0 and 1/2, 1/2, between 1/2 and 1, or 1. Also included is a file folder game for students to practice independently. An answer key is included. Version 2 will have students determine where a fraction belongs on the number line: at 0, between 0 and 1/4, at 1/4, between 1/4 and 1/2, at 1/2, between 1/2 and 3/4, at 3/4, between 3/4 and 1, or at 1. Also included are two games. The first game is a smaller version of the classroom number line. The second game is a racing game and covers the fractions: 1/2,1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8, and 1/12.
