This unit contains many centers that can be used at anytime during the school year.  I always use this book at the beginning of the year and also in the spring.  

All centers include decorative direction page and matching recording sheets.  Many of the games contain two recording sheets.  The first sheet allow students to fill in the answers.  The second sheet is cut & paste.

Each of centers above are in the same format, using different vowels & pictures.

*Yummy Syllables- Students will sort words from the book based on how many syllables each word has.

*ABC Line Up- Students will put food words from the book in ABC order.

*Cupcake Compound Words Students will create a compound word by connecting the top of a cupcake to the correct bottom.

*Growing Antonyms- Students will create pairs of antonyms.

*Sweet Synonyms- Students will create pairs of synonyms.

*Vocabulary writing sheets with pictures to help students with writing based on this book.  It is provided in color and black & white.

*2 Writing Prompts
*2 Decorative writing sheets (no prompt)

~Student Book:~
Students will love to fill in the correct word in their own little mini book!  Students will then illustrate a picture.  This book focus on key words from the book, with one missing word on most pages. (10 pages)

~Sequencing Headband Craftivity:~
Students will create a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" headband using this fun craftivity.  Students will sequence the story using picture cards provided and label the days of the week under each picture.

~From Caterpillar to Butterfly~
Students will create a caterpillar book to add to each month of the school year.   Students will be a little caterpillar at the beginning of the year and will grow into a big butterfly throughout the year with learning (aka food!).

~Sequencing Sticks~
This craftivity allows your students to create sequencing sticks to use while reading the story.  Colored and black and white options are provided.

~My Week Caterpillar~
This craftivity is great to use during Daily 5 rotations.  I use it the first week of school and have students write about what they learned that day on one caterpillar circle.
