Zoo Animals or Jungle Animals: Writing Prompt Craftivities is a fun way to add a craft to a writing prompt. There is a craftivity for each of the following eight animals in this package: zebra, monkey, toucan, giraffe, hippo, snake, tiger, and lion. This is a great for an end of year activity too. As a bonus, I've added zoo prompts for each animal to go along with zoo field trips.

You have lots of options. For each animal, there is a cover page that includes the animal's name followed by three different writing prompts. These are prompts that you can print "as is" and the student will color the animal and write on the topic.

The first topic asks the student to imagine being the animal, the second topic asks the student to imagine having one of the animal's traits, the next topic asks the student to describe the animal he or she saw at the zoo, and the last topic lists the letter of the alphabet that corresponds with the animal (M is for Monkey, L is for Lion, T is for Tiger, T is for Toucan, S is for Snake, G if for Giraffe, H is for Hippo, and Z is for Zebra). Use this prompt for students to list additional words that begin with the same letter, assign your own topic, or let students come up with their own topic.

Next, you will find the same four topics formatted for a page topper. If you choose these prompts, add the animal image and the leaves after those prompts. You can either print these animal page toppers on colored paper or ask your students to color them.

The last three items for each animal are graphic organizers to help with the writing process. Each animal has a clustering/web word organizer, a can/have/need chart, and a KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) chart.
