You'll love this cute, teacher and student friendly, Word Finder Booklet!  It is a 52 page booklet (that's only 13 legal sized pages, when copied on two sides and folded) filled with lists of words including the following:  a spelling dictionary or alphabetized lists of the most common words, monthly word walls, colors, days, months, holidays, numbers, people, titles and abbrviations, contractions, onomatopoeias, time and space-order words, transition words, synonyms, homophones, character traits, and sensory words.

My students keep these in their writing folders in their desks as a quick reference anytime, except for spelling tests, of course.  When a child cannot find a word in our student dictionaries, then they can ask me or each other the spelling and write it on one of the blank lines in the spelling section.  I also might have them add any weekly vocabulary words not already listed. The kids really do take advantage of using these and  it's a simple routine to establish.

When you print your copies remember:

• To use legal sized paper
• Flip flop the single sided master copies, so both side will be right-side up when copied double sided
• Collate, making 2-sided copies, fold into booklets, and staple with a book stapler (if desired).
