Among the Alwars, Nammalwar is deemed to be top intellectual. It is Nammalwar who consecrated these nine sacred places on either side of the river Porunaiyar. Sthalapuranas of these temples give the background in which they came into existence. The tons of information that these give may not be palatable to atheists but sure to provide awe and inspiration.
