The saree comes in a wide range of colours, fabrics and designs, and there exists a wide variety in the styles of wearing it as well. One of these, is the Madisaar saree, a Classical style used by Brahmin women for their weddings, anniversaries, and religious ceremonies. While the ordinary saree comes in a length of 6 gaja's or yards, the Madisaar saree requires 9 yards. (புடவையில் பல விதங்கள் இருப்பது போலவே அதைக் கட்டும் விதங்களிலும் பல முறைகள் உள்ளன. ஆலயத்து குருக்களின் அடி பிறழாத மந்திரங்களைப் போலவே அவர் வீட்டு மாமியின் ஆடையிலும் கலை நயத்தைக் காணலாம். மடிசார் என்பது பிராமண மகளிர் பாரம்பரிய முறையில் புடவை அணியும் முறை. மிகவும் வசீகரமான உடை இது எனக் கூறுவார்கள். மணமான பெண்கள் வீட்டில் முக்கிய விசேஷ தினங்களிலும் பண்டிகை நாட்களிலும் மடிசார் புடவை அணிந்து கொள்வது வழக்கம். சாதாரணமாக புடவை அணிவதற்கு ஆறு கஜமே போதுமென்றாலும் மடிசாருக்கு ஓன்பது கஜ புடவை தேவை. மடிசார் கட்டிக்கொள்ளும் போது புடவையின் மடிப்புக்களும், தலைப்புக்களும் சரியான இடங்களில் இருக்க வேண்டும். அணியும் முறை சற்று கடினமாகவே தோன்றும். ஆனால் இந்த மின்னூலில் மடிசார் கட்டிக் கொள்ளும் முறை புகைப்படங்களோடு மிக எளிமையாக விளக்கப் பட்டிருக்கிறது. பாரம்பரியமாகவும் அதே சமயத்தில் மிகவும் நாகரீகமாகவும் விளங்குகிற மடிசார் உடை காலத்தால் அழிந்துவிடாமல் இருக்கும் வகையில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பது பாராட்டத் தக்கது.)
