Often we are mere spectators during the events of our life. These stories narrate our reserved or opposite reactions towards feelings of others in a subtle manner. Whether we agree or disagree with the author, the incidents narrated in these stories are real life incidents. Though the happenings are subject to the readers' criticism, the narration of the feelings in these stories is enjoyable. The title story "Manidham" itself touches the heart. The cry of deserted soul keeps echoing in the minds even after finishing that story. ("வாழ்வின் நிகழ்வுகளில் பெரும்பான்மை நேரங்கள் நாம் வெறும் பார்வையாளர்களாகவே நிற்கிறோம். பிறர் உணர்வுகளின் மீதான நம் ஆளுமை செயலற்றும், எதிர் விளைவுகளோடும் இருப்பதை இக்கதைகள் சொல்கின்றன. கதாசிரியரோடு உடன்படுகிறோமோ, அல்லது மறுக்கப் போகிறோமோ.. எப்படியாயினும் கதைகளில் காட்டப்படும் சம்பவங்கள் கண்கூடாய்ப் பார்ப்பவை. இப்படி இருந்தால் எவ்வளவு நன்றாக இருக்கும் என்கிற பெருமூச்சும் இப்படி நடந்து விட்டதே என்கிற அங்கலாய்ப்புமாய் உணர்ச்சிகளைத் தேவைக்கேற்ப வெளிப்படுத்தி கதை சொல்லப்பட்ட விதம் ரசிக்க வைக்கிறது. தலைப்புக் கதையே ('மனிதம்') மனசைச் தொடுகிறது. நிராகரிக்கப்பட்ட ஜீவனின் அபலக் குரல் வாசித்து முடித்தபின்னும் உள்மனதில் கேட்கும் பிரமை.)
