Though most of us are only familiar with the Disney version, Cinderella or "the Glass Slipper" is a classical folk story that has been told and retold a thousand times in a hundred languages. The heroine has gone by the names Cendrillon, Cenicienta, Askungen, and many more. The tale has come to symbolize the struggle of the oppressed young girl overcoming her messed up family and achieving glory and wealth.
