अनेक समीक्षकांपैकी Jeremy M. Hoover या 'गीतांबरी'विषयी म्हणतात:- 'Perhaps the greatest compliment this book can be given is for a reader to be sparked to begin contemplating the Bhagavad-Gita itself. I, for one, will do so.'

The Bhagavad-Gita, the great ancient epic of the Indian philosophy told by Lord Sri Krishna to the brave Pandava warrior Arjuna, who was in the state of mental bewilderment, when he was supposed to fight with Kauravas, his enemies, on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, in the year 3101 B.C. It is surely difficult for a common reader to understand the philosophical principles of Bhagavad-Gita which is narrated in ancient Sanskrit Versified language. But Mr. Rajendra Kher, an eminent young writer has simplified it in his Marathi novel 'Geetambari.' He has particularly used the form of novel for making various episodes in Bhagvad-Gita more interesting and for capturing the readers. A common reader will be able to grasp philosophical principles with ease. Mr. Rajendra Kher has very efficiently and deftly dealt with various episodes, flashbacks and scenes making it visually effective too. Commonest of the common reader, of all ages, will be able to enjoy the reading of—'Geetambari.'In the novel 'Geetambari' the author has made every effort to transmit the divine message of Lord Sri Krishna, through beautiful scenes and their background, personal dialogues between Lord Sri Krishna and Arjuna and all the relevant characters that provide a vivid spectrum of the ancient people and their lives, their costumes, different ways of behavior accompanied with mutual conversations and background of different social and political conditions, their prevailing caste systems, religion, the conflict between Kauravas and Pandavas, the military arrangements of both the armies, the surrounding abounding nature but with a complete focus on two stable characters Sri Krishna and Arjuna, which has made this novel a visual panorama. The reader feels as if he is sitting at a vantage point and watching the whole human drama relishing the taste of divine philosophy that leads man to the eternal ultimate truth. The novelist while simplifying and elucidating the philosophy of Gita has taken the readers to other characters and situations, which are relevant to different episodes.
